Overall a great high school with a easy-going community and good academics. Read 471 Reviews grade A+ Overall Niche Grade 1, 784 Students 19:1 Student-Teacher Ratio Glen Allen High School Henrico County Public Schools, VA 9-12 Rating 3. 98 out of 5 305 reviews #4 Best Public High Schools in Richmond Area Senior: I am currently a senior in the center at Glen Allen, and although my time at Glen Allen was cut short, I can honestly say I enjoyed my time here. The building is gorgeous, the majority of teachers are genuinely passionate about what they are teaching and the culture is much kinder and relaxed in comparison to other schools I have attended! I have treasured my time on the cross country team and in the center, this school offers plenty of opportunities to form a community to make your high school experience as comfortable as possible. A drawback would certainly be the diversity, the majority of the school is white, and I would not recommend Glen Allen if diversity is an important factor for you.

Many are actively involved with their local churches. All of our teachers have university degrees or its equivalency. New teachers or teachers changing grades are sent during the summer to Pensacola for training in the Abeka curriculum. We also conduct in-house training every year prior to the opening of school. All of our teachers follow a very detailed curriculum guide laid out for their particular grade level in every subject from day to day. In this way, they are not dependent upon themselves to write the curriculum, devise the daily lessons, compose the tests, or inquire as to what may have been covered the previous year. The wisdom and experience of master teachers who have developed this wonderful Christian curriculum since 1972 is ours to follow. As the philosophy and methodology of the Abeka curriculum are different from and often in opposition to those of the public schools, we do not require that our teachers be "certified" by the teacher union. Nor does the Ministry of Education, which has inspected us, require this.
