Trades and Technical Programs Cumberland College offers many credit training courses locally for the convenience of adult learners in the college region. Traditional Sask Polytech courses available at Cumberland College include; Business Certificate, Carpentry, Continuing Care Assistant, Early Childhood Education, Electrician Program, Office Education, Practical Nursing and Primary Care Paramedic. Business and Industry A wide variety of credit and non-credit courses is offered to develop and enhance the skills of individuals and/or obtain required industry certifications. Opportunities Cumberland Community Foundation ("CCF") manages more than 60 scholarship endowment funds created by local individuals, families, civic organizations, and corporations who want to provide a path to higher education for future generations. Each year, Cumberland Community Foundation awards almost $700, 000 in college scholarships to students from southeastern North Carolina. Most scholarships are selected by the CCF Scholarship Committee. A few scholarships are selected by external selection committees at the individual high schools. Make sure to check with your high school guidance office to learn about more scholarship opportunities. Support Indigenous Students In 2014-15, Cumberland College provided a number of programs in partnership with First Nations communities. These programs include Adult Basic Education at Little Red First Nation, Muskoday First Nation, James Smith Cree Nation, Red Earth Cree Nation and Shoal Lake Cree Nation. Post-secondary programming included an Institutional Cooking program in Prince Albert with Little Red First Nation and Montreal Lake First Nation, and a Youth Care Worker program held in Nipawin (in partnership with Red Earth, Shoal Lake, and Cumberland House Cree Nations). Learner Services partnered with the Marguerite Riel Center to offer a Transitions to Employment Program. Tutors and advisors were available at all locations to provide academic and personal support for students. In September 2014, Cumberland College held its inaugural meeting of its newly formed First Nations and Métis Advisory Council (FNMAC), composed of representatives from each of the First Nations and Métis communities within the College region.
